Prism Auto was founded in early 2019 by a small group of automotive enthusiasts and hospitality professionals who saw an opportunity to approach car rentals differently in Taipei. Rather than focusing on volume or transactional efficiency, we wanted to create a service that reflected the precision and design sensibility found in Taiwan's modern urban landscape.
The name "Prism" was chosen to represent multiple perspectives coming together — the practical needs of travelers, the aesthetic appeal of well-maintained vehicles, and the cultural richness of Taiwan itself. Just as light refracts through a crystal to reveal unexpected colors, we aim to help visitors and residents experience Taipei from angles they might not have discovered on their own.
Our founding team included Wei-Lun Chen, who previously managed fleet operations for a regional logistics company; Mei-Hua Lin, a former concierge at a design hotel in Xinyi District; and David Huang, an automotive designer with experience at manufacturers in both Taiwan and Japan. This combination of operational knowledge, hospitality insight, and design appreciation shaped our early direction.
We started with six vehicles and a commitment to bilingual service, recognizing that many of our potential clients would be international visitors or returning Taiwanese from abroad. Over time, we expanded our fleet to include touring sedans, crossovers, and premium SUVs, each selected for reliability, comfort, and contemporary design.
