Terms & Conditions

1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions:
- "Service" refers to the vehicle rental services provided by Prism Auto
- "Renter" or "You" refers to the individual entering into the rental agreement
- "We", "Us", or "Our" refers to Prism Auto
- "Vehicle" refers to the automobile rented under this agreement
- "Rental Period" refers to the agreed duration from pickup to return
- "Agreement" refers to these Terms and Conditions and the rental contract
2. Acceptance of Terms
By reserving or renting a vehicle from Prism Auto, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Prism Auto. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you should not use our services.
You must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license to rent a vehicle from us.
3. Eligibility and Requirements
Driver Qualifications
To rent a vehicle, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Hold a valid driver's license from your country of residence
- Present an international driving permit if your license is not in English or Chinese
- Provide valid identification (passport or national ID)
- Present a credit card in your name for security deposit
Additional Drivers
Additional drivers must:
- Meet all eligibility requirements listed above
- Be present at vehicle pickup to provide documentation
- Be listed on the rental agreement before operating the vehicle
4. Reservation and Booking
Reservations can be made through our website, by phone, or by email. We will confirm your booking and provide rental details including:
- Vehicle category and specifications
- Rental dates and duration
- Pickup and return locations
- Total rental cost and payment terms
- Included services and coverage
Reservations are subject to vehicle availability. We reserve the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle if the reserved model is unavailable.
5. Payment Terms
Rental Fees
Rental fees are quoted in New Taiwan Dollars (NT$) and include comprehensive insurance, GPS navigation, and bilingual roadside support as specified in your rental package.
Security Deposit
A refundable security deposit is required at vehicle pickup. The deposit amount varies by vehicle category and will be pre-authorized on your credit card. The deposit will be released within 7-14 business days after vehicle return, provided there is no damage or violation.
Additional Charges
You may incur additional charges for:
- Late return (hourly rate applied)
- Fuel replacement if not returned with agreed level
- Traffic violations or parking fines
- Excessive cleaning if vehicle is returned in unacceptable condition
- Damage not covered by insurance
Payment Methods
We accept major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB). Cash payments are not accepted for security deposits.
6. Insurance Coverage
All rental packages include comprehensive insurance coverage provided by our authorized insurance partner. This coverage includes:
- Collision damage waiver
- Third-party liability coverage
- Personal accident insurance for driver and passengers
- Theft protection
Important exclusions apply:
- Damage caused by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Damage resulting from reckless or prohibited use
- Loss or damage to personal belongings left in the vehicle
- Tire and wheel damage from curbing or road hazards
- Interior damage or excessive wear
7. Renter Responsibilities
Proper Use
You agree to:
- Operate the vehicle safely and in accordance with Taiwan traffic laws
- Maintain the vehicle in good condition during the rental period
- Check fluid levels and tire pressure regularly
- Keep the vehicle locked when unattended
- Report any accidents or damage immediately
- Return the vehicle in the same condition as received
Prohibited Activities
You must not:
- Drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication that impairs driving
- Use the vehicle for racing, towing, or off-road driving
- Transport illegal goods or engage in illegal activities
- Smoke in the vehicle
- Allow unauthorized persons to drive the vehicle
- Remove or tamper with GPS or other vehicle equipment
- Take the vehicle outside Taiwan without prior written permission
Accidents and Damage
In the event of an accident, you must:
- Contact us immediately at +886 2 2563 8247
- Not admit fault or make agreements with third parties
- Obtain contact information from all involved parties
- File a police report if required by law
- Provide us with complete accident documentation
8. Vehicle Return
Vehicles must be returned at the agreed time and location. Late returns without prior authorization will incur additional charges at our standard hourly rate.
Upon return, the vehicle will be inspected for damage, cleanliness, and fuel level. You are responsible for any new damage discovered during inspection.
If you cannot return the vehicle on time, contact us immediately to arrange an extension. Extensions are subject to vehicle availability and additional charges.
9. Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made more than 48 hours before pickup: Full refund of any pre-payments
Cancellations made within 48 hours of pickup: Service fee of NT$1,500 will be deducted
No-show or cancellation after pickup time: No refund will be issued
We understand that circumstances can change. If you need to cancel or modify your reservation, please contact us as early as possible.
10. Limitation of Liability
Our liability is limited to the extent permitted by Taiwan law. We are not responsible for:
- Personal injury or property damage arising from your use of the vehicle
- Indirect, consequential, or incidental damages
- Loss of business, profits, or opportunities
- Vehicle breakdowns or malfunctions beyond our reasonable control
- Delays or cancellations due to circumstances beyond our control
Our total liability to you for any claim will not exceed the total rental fee paid for your reservation.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Prism Auto, its employees, and partners from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the vehicle, violation of these terms, or breach of any law or regulation.
12. Privacy and Data Protection
We collect and process your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act.
By using our services, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in our Privacy Policy.
13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Taiwan. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or your use of our services shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in Taipei, Taiwan.
We encourage resolving disputes informally by contacting us first. We will make reasonable efforts to address your concerns before formal legal action.
14. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on our website with an updated effective date.
Your continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified terms. Material changes will be communicated through email or prominent website notice.
It is your responsibility to review these terms periodically for updates.
